Brandon Primus
Brandon Primus is a native of Shreveport, Louisiana, and attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Ma.
While at Berklee, Brandon served as the Student Government Association President, Student Liaison to the Presidential Search Committee, and received the Music Business Management Achievement Award for outstanding service to the college and to the community. Brandon also served as an undergraduate board member for the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. Northeastern Province.
After Berklee, Brandon joined Columbia Records in New York City as an A&R talent scout. In this position he assisted the A&R managers in diversifying the artist roster of Columbia Records. In the same year Brandon became a 3-time champion of Showtime at the Apollo on Saxophone.
Before leaving New York, Brandon received an opportunity to join The New York Times in Advertising as an account representative for Business and Financial Service Companies. Brandon received this opportunity at the beginning of the unprecedented financial crisis of 2007. During this time Brandon developed The New York Time’s first-ever Cooperative Advertorial. The purpose of the Cooperative Advertorial was to highlight different small business and financial service solutions that were autonomous from Wall Street, to The New York Times customer, particularly during the economically volatile conditions of 2007.
In 2009 Brandon received a scholarship to the Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, CA. As the treasurer for the Black Law Student Association (BLSA), Brandon worked with BLSA to create a series of events called Collective Collaborations. These events were designed to unite the minority business and legal communities in San Diego, while fundraising for various non-profit organizations that serve underprivileged communities.
In 2011 Brandon received a Congressional Internship with Congresswoman Susan Davis CA-53, while pursing his legal studies. Haven completed his law degree, Brandon currently serves as a Congressional Aide for Congresswoman Susan Davis. Brandon also serves as the National Association of Minority Contractors San Diego & Imperial County Chapter Chair of the Governmental/Legislative Affairs Committee. In this role Brandon works alongside agency officials, Councilmen, State Assemblymen and Congressmen to address the needs and concerns of historically underutilized disadvantaged businesses.
